YouTube is one of the largest video content creation and streaming services in the world, and it is still growing. One of the best things about YouTube is that it gives out various physical awards to creators for achieving certain subscriber milestones. These include three what it calls “YouTube Creator Awards” or commonly referred to as “YouTube Play Buttons” that the video-sharing platform awards the creators. The first one in the line of these real, tangible awards is the YouTube Silver Play Button. Here is all you need to know about what it is and how you can get one as a content creator on YouTube.
To celebrate achieving certain subscriber milestones, YouTube gives out various offerings to the content creators. These can sometimes be as simple as a “congratulations” message, or you may get access to things like YouTube Studio space in select cities across the globe. For example, to access these dedicated locations, you will need a minimum of 10,000 subscribers on your YouTube channel. However, for major milestones, such as larger subscriber bases, YouTube gives out Creator Awards or Play Buttons — the actual, tangible plaques.
What Is YouTube Silver Play Button
At present, YouTube offers three official tiers for Play Buttons. All of them require a large subscriber base, one larger than the other and so on to receive. Here are the three YouTube Play Buttons and required milestones to become eligible for them:
Silver Creator Award (or Silver Play Button)
Awarded when one reaches 100,000 subscribers
Gold Creator Award (or Gold Play Button)
Awarded when one reaches 1 million subscribers
Diamond Creator Award (or Diamond Play Button)
Awarded when one reaches 10 million subscribers
Practically, attaining the YouTube Silver Play Button is also very rare. However, it is the one award that you would get easier, as compared to the others. Before learning how to get the YouTube Silver Play Button, let’s see what you receive in the box first.
If you’re eligible to receive the entry-level silver award from YouTube, you’ll get a box with:
- A congratulations letter signed by YouTube CEO
- A Silver Play Button plaque
Note that hitting the 100,000 subscribers milestone is not all you need to get the awards. You need to fulfill the following conditions too:
- You should have a YouTube account in “good standing”
- There should be no active copyright strike on your channel
- Your channel should not have any active or previous YouTube Community Guidelines violation
- You should not have any infringements of YouTube’s Terms of Service
How to Get YouTube Silver Play Button
If you meet all of the above requirements, the last condition you need to fulfill is that your channel must host unique content and not the content created by others. If you’re the original content creator and satisfy this condition, you need to go through the application process. It includes an eligibility review, Unique Creator Award redemption code, and further channel confirmation.
Follow the steps while going through the application process on the YouTube Creator Rewards website. You’ll get a unique code in a YouTube Creator Studio notification that you need to use on the Creator Awards redemption website. When accepted, you’ll receive your Silver Play Button in about one to six weeks, depending upon your location.
