Samsung, on December 8, released a new whitepaper that highlights the capabilities and benefits of Massive Multi-Input, Multi-Output (MIMO) in 5G NR systems. Titled “Massive MIMO for New Radio,” the whitepaper shares the company’s roadmap for Massive MIMO solutions. It also presents essential air technologies, various form factors, and developmental plans, as well as the South Korean electronics giant’s “vision for this critical technology essential for 5G build-out.”
According to the whitepaper, Massive MIMO is a major breakthrough in technology to cope up with the exponentially increasing growth in mobile traffic. Samsung points out the need for fast and stable network connections with newly deployed 5G solutions. And here’s where the Massive MIMO comes to the rescue, by improving the network capacity and the user’s experience.
Samsung’s Massive MIMO Roadmap
The whitepaper explains that Massive MIMO, which is outfitted with a large number of antennas, can control these antennas to concentrate the emitted radio signals into a narrowed beam focussed on a designated user. This results in a significant improvement in throughput and efficiency while reducing interferences among nearby users, says the company.
Notably, the company provides a wide array of Massive MIMO radio lineup that aims to support all of the globally defined 5G spectrums in mid-band and serve diverse environments and site requirements. Samsung says that it will continue to develop technology that supports a vast array of the spectrum with higher capacity.
Samsung said, it will introduce the next-generation Massive MIMO with enhancements in the latest 3GPP release 16 and 17 in the coming years. The electronics company also wants to lay the groundwork for Distributed FD-MIMO (Full Dimension MIMO) in near future.
Tech giants Samsungand Googlehave teamed up to bring their smart home platforms together and build a common eco-system. This will allow users to access Google Nest devices using Samsung SmartThings app.
With this, the user can use the Samsung SmartThings to control Google Nest devices. This includes Nest cameras, thermostats, doorbells, and more. Not only that, all this can be accessed via Samsung smart home devices like smart TVs and refrigerators. Moreover, Samsung recently integrated Google Assistant in its smart TVs instead of Bixby. So, does that mean it is time to say adios to Bixby now since the relations between Google and Samsung are getting stronger? We will surely find it out in the coming time.
Apart from that, when the integration will be executed next month all the supported Nest devices will become Works With SmartThings (WWST) certified. This certification is mandatory to control the Nest devices with Samsung’s SmartThings app, TVs, and even refrigerators.
Moreover, Samsung will integrate Google Assistant to ore of its smart devices and all of them can be accessed using the “Hey Google” hotword. To simplify things for non-English speakers, Google Assistant will be available in 6 new languages: Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese.
Google has announced the launch of a new smartphone app called Look To Speak, which aims to make communicating easier for people by using just their eyes. The Android app is intended for people with speech and motor difficulties and helps them select phrases on their phones and speak them loud — all by using their eye movements. Developed on the Experiments with Google platform, the new accessibility app is a result of collaboration between Richard Cave, the Speech and Language Therapist, and a team at Google, which had been working on this similar project.
The Look to Speak Android app requires users to hold their phone steady in front of their eyes and then use their eyes to look left, right, or up to select pre-written phrases from the list. These include the phrases and words used in basic conversation such as hello, thank you, great, okay, etc. The phrases also include basic questions used in our daily conversations, like asking the other person’s name, how and where they are, and what’s going on.
Look to Speak App Features, Working, and Availability
“Look to Speak is a ‘Start with One’ project on the Experiments with Google platform,” reads the official Google blog post. “Throughout the design process, we reached out to a small group of people who might benefit from a communication tool like this,” said Richard Cave. With this new app, you can simply look left, right, or up to quickly select what you want to say from a list of pre-written phrases. The chosen phrases will then be read aloud on the Look to Speak app. Apart from this, you’ll also have the option to add your authentic voice notes on the app, which in turn will sound the phrases more personalized.
Additionally, apart from choosing and speaking out the phrases, the app also provides the option to snooze the screen. Users can adjust the eye gaze sensitivity from the settings. Speaking of availability, the Look to Speak app is available to everyone with devices running Android 9.0 and above, including Android One.
The launch of Samsung GalaxyS21+ and S21 Ultra is right about the corner and even before the official release of the phone, YouTuber @sakitech was successful in releasing the picture of both the upcoming smartphones. Not only that, but camera specifications are also confirmed.
The leaked pictures suggest that Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra sports a quad-camera setup comprising 108 megapixels second-generation 0.8um 100MP HM3 main sensor, 12 megapixels ultrawide lens Sony IMX563 Gen5 architecture sensor, and two telephoto sensors one providing 10x optical variable zoom while the other provides 3x optical variable zoom.
On the contrary, Samsung Galaxy S21 will sport the same triple camera same as of Galaxy S21+. So, the triple camera setup comprises a 12-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 64-megapixel telephoto lens. Unlike Galaxy S21 Ultra, S21+ and S21 will not feature two telephoto sensors.
Not long ago, the tempered film of all the three Galaxy S21s also got leaked. The leaks suggest that Galaxy S21 will feature a 6.3-inch FHD+ display, Galaxy S21+ will feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ display, whereas the S21 ultra will feature the 6.7-inch WQHD+ display – the largest of all displays yet. All the displays will have a 120Hz refresh rate.
Leaks also suggest that the Galaxy S21 will have a 4000 mAh battery packed in a plastic back. Whereas the Galaxy S21+ will feature a 4800 mAh packed in a glass back cover. However, the Galaxy S21 Ultra will have a massive 5000 mAh battery inside a glass back cover.
That is pretty much what we know about the upcoming Samsung flagship. According to the reports, the smartphones will make their debut on January 29, 2021.
Google has announced its latest Pixel feature drop with a slew of new features and abilities to its smartphone lineup. The company has released a December 2020 update that brings brand-new functionalities like Adaptive Sound and other software features from the Pixel 5 to Pixel 3 and newer devices. The Adaptive Sound improves the sound quality of the phone’s speaker based on the surroundings.
Additionally, other features, which were earlier available to Pixel 5 owners, have also made their way to more Pixel owners. These include the Hold for Me feature that helps users save time when they’re put on hold by a business. Currently, this feature is available for Pixel owners in the US in English. “With the December update, even more, Pixel owners will get to experience our most recent updates, along with a few new surprises,” said Google in a blog post.
Google December Pixel Feature Drop
With the December 2020 update, Google is rolling out the previously-launched features on Pixel 5 to Pixel 3 and newer devices from the lineup. As said earlier, the Hold for Me ability is now coming to more Pixel owners, which allows users to hand over listening duties to the Google Assistant while a business has put their call on hold. According to Google, when Hold for Me is enabled, it saves up to eight minutes per call on average.
The latest feature drop also adds the Extreme Battery Saver mode to older Pixel models. This is also a feature of Pixel 5 that uses an aggressive method to prolong runtimes. It does this by reducing the functionality of the phone to the bare minimum while still keeping the phone usable. Extreme Battery Saver pauses all apps in the background, restricts notifications, throttles back the CPU, and trims the Pixel’s screen time to 30 seconds max.
Next, Duo group calls now support screen sharing — which previously existed for one-to-one calls only. However, it seems like there is a bandwidth issue in this feature. The company says that one needs to connect to either a Wi-Fi or a 5G connection to support it. Apart from this, December 2020 feature drop brings an upgrade to the Google Photos editor, adding new suggestions.
Other additional features include Adaptive Sound, new abilities to Google Lens, and a few additions to the home screen. The first one automatically adjusts the equalizer for audio quality depending on the surroundings. While, Google Lens gets new translation abilities for apps and websites.
On the other hand, Pixel owners get new icons, grid views, app shapes, and new wallpapers on their home screen. Further, Pixel phones can now detect songs playing in the surroundings and add them to the Now Playing list when the “Now Playing” option is turned on.
Google has announced in its blog that Apple Music is now available on Google Assistant-enabled smart speakers and displays. The devices that receive the support for Apple’s music streaming service include the Google Nest devices, Assistant-compatible smart speakers, and displays. With this launch, users can now ask Google Assistant on Nest and Assistant-enabled smart speakers and displays to play music on Apple Music. You, of course, need an Apple Music subscription to take advantage of the newly-added feature. The subscription starts at $9.99 per individual.
Starting December 7, Google started rolling out Apple Music to Google Assistant-enabled devices like Nest Audio, Nest Mini, Nest Hub Max, and more. Apple Music subscribers can now search and play ad-free music from over 70 million songs just by using their voice. Here’s what the new integration offers how it works.
Google Nest – Apple Music Working, Availability
To play music on Assistant-enabled smart speakers and displays from Apple Music, you just need to link your Apple Music account in the Google Home app. That’s all. All you then have to do is say voice commands like “Hey Google, play Alan Walker Music playlist,” or “Hey Google, play New Music Daily playlist.” You can ask the Google Assistant to play any playlist, artist, or a specific song from Apple Music, as well as play music based on any genre, mood, or activity. To play your liked songs from your Apple Music library, you can say “Hey Google, play my songs” or “Hey Google, play my library.”
There’s another feature called multi-room control in the Google Home app or on a Nest Smart display that you can use to play music on more than one smart speaker. You can also use this feature to dynamically move your music from one device to another. By saying, “Hey Google, play music on all my speakers,” you can play music on all of the Nest devices in your home.
In terms of availability, Apple Music has begun rolling out on Nest and other Assistant-enabled smart speakers and displays in select countries starting December 7. These countries include the US, UK, France, Germany, and Japan.

It seems like Samsung, specifically Semiconductor, has not yet done with packing pixels into its smartphone sensors. The company is reportedly dreaming of massive 600MP camera sensors into its smartphones. According to a slide leaked by tipster Ice Universe, Samsung has mentioned its magical 600MP camera once again. The South Korean electronics manufacturer talks up massive camera sensors on phones, their possibilities, and the issues they present, says Android Authority. Though this figure may seem like a pipedream at present, but the company has previously earmarked it as a future milestone.
Samsung earlier talked about its ultimate goal to create a sensor that has the resolution of the human eye. Back in September, Jinhyun Kwon, the Samsung Semiconductor sensor marketing head, in an interview had indicated a 500MP sensor, which is the approximate resolution of the human eye. However, achieving this goal presents various challenges that the leaked slide seems to demonstrate.

One of the major issues that Samsung faces in making a 600MP sensor is a huge camera bump — around 22mm thick — that too if the company uses its 0.8um pixel technology. This would make the camera bump nearly three times thicker than the Galaxy S20 camera. Additionally, the camera would also occupy a vast area of the phone’s rear plate — nearly four times the area of Samsung’s 0.8um 108MP sensors. So, the manufacturer would even need the smaller pixels to reduce the camera bump and area. It’s worth noting that Samsung recently hit the 0.7um pixel mark with its Isocell HM2 sensor.
Note that the slide does not confirm whether Samsung has started working on a 600MP sensor or not. As the bulky sensors would hinge on practicality and portability if employed on smartphones, the technology to bring them to phones would be very challenging. However, the company does suggest larger sensors as these would improve video capture at 4K and 8K resolutions. The company says that larger sensors would also improve cropped image quality. For those wanting to see a 600MP sensor on their phones, there’s no telling how long you’ll have to wait. However, we expect Samsung to pack more pixels in their future phones.
After the launch of the OnePlus 8T, the OnePlus is planning to bring its next-gen flagship phone. The company is reportedly working on a new smartphone — OnePlus 9 — that’s already started listing on leaks, showing off the flagship’s design. Now, the latest leaked schematics of OnePlus 9 Pro from Digital Chat Station reveal that the phone will come with a triple rear-camera setup with two large cameras.
The company had recently launched its latest OnePlus 8T handset globally, and now there’s the new OnePlus 9 series in the line. According to the tipster, the smartphone will have a triple rear camera setup with two lenses that are quite larger than the usual size. At the front, the leaked renders show that the OnePlus 9 Pro will sport a single punch-hole camera. This lies at the top-left corner of the display.
OnePlus 9 Pro Leaked Features and Availability
According to Digital Chat Station, the tipster that shared the images of the OnePlus 9 Pro, the smartphone will feature a QHD+ high-swipe single-hole display. The punch-hole cutout will lie on the upper left corner of the phone screen. Also, the tipster points that the two rear lenses of the upcoming handset are quite large. This means that the size of these two cameras is a little larger than usual.
Previous speculations hint that the OnePlus 9 series will comprise two handsets — the OnePlus 9, and the OnePlus 9 Pro. Reportedly, the OnePlus 9 will come with a 6.55-inch FHD screen. And, the other smartphone from the series will use a 6.8-inch QHD display. Note that the entire OnePlus series will derive power from the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. In terms of availability, the rumors claim the OnePlus 9 series will launch in the first half of 2021.
