PS4 Owners Will Not Get Free Upgrade to PS5’s Remastered Spider-Man

Recently Sony held a big PlayStation 5 showcase event in which the company announced Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Not just this, the company also announced that the original Spider-Man would get a PS5 remaster with new graphical features. But unfortunately, you will have to purchase the game again as Sony is not giving it for free.

Sony corporation has confirmed that it will not allow the existing PS4 Spider-Man owners to upgrade to the new PS5 remaster for free. Thus the users will have to buy the Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition to get access to the new remastered PS5 version.

Sony, in a statement, said that the company currently has no plans to offer Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered as standalone. For players who have a copy of Spider-Man for PS4 and want to experience Spider-Man: Remastered, they first need to purchase the Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition. However, the PS4 game version will be backward compatible with PS5.

The Japanese conglomerate in a statement to Kotaku said, “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered is an enhanced version of Marvel’s Spider-Man”. It added that this version will include as part of the Ultimate Edition for the PlayStation 5. However, Sony confirmed that the PlayStation 4 owners who purchase Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version of Miles Morales for free. Next, they can download Spider-Man: Remastered as a paid upgrade for additional cost.

Upgrading Cost for PlayStation 4 Owners

If you are a PlayStation 4 user and want to experience the original remaster as part of your purchase of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sony is offering a $20 upgrade to its customers. The Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition costs $70 in total. What all this means is that currently, only players who buy the Ultimate Edition will receive the remaster upgrade. Since some PS4 owners got accidentally upgraded for free, Sony said later in a statement that it was not possible to offer the free upgrade.
