Apple is reportedly planning to launch the new iPad Pro with 5G mmWave AiP (antenna in package) or millimeter wave support. This technology is already present in the new iPhone 12 range only in the US. But now, the upcoming iPad whose production will start in the fourth quarter of this year will come up with this 5G mmWave support.
What is 5G mmWave technology?
5G mmWave technology is a set of 5G frequencies that provides ultra-fast speeds at short distances. This will benefit people using 5G in densely populated urban areas.
A report by DigiTimes suggests that after the success of Apple in creating its in-house mmWave or millimeter-wave, the American tech giant is planning to roll out the wider range of this technology in the next year’s iPhone. In addition to that, the upcoming iPads will also benefit from the same.
“The self-sufficiency in design and development of AiP modules also means that Apple’s next-generation high-end iPad products to be released in 2021 may also come with mmWave technology.”, said the sources.
As of now, this technology is only limited to the US. However, this will further expand in different countries in some time.
Moreover, the new Apple iPad Pro will probably launch in the first half of 2021. Besides that, the production of mini-LED displays for the iPad Pro will start in the fourth quarter of this year. Claims the famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in his latest investors’ note.
