Google Pay is rolling out a new update for its payments app on both Android and iOS. This time the app will get a reimagined look and a slew of new features that make finance-management easier than ever. Google announced the news of this major change to its Google Pay app through a blog post on Wednesday. The new Google Pay app now becomes a finance budgeting and payment hub.
As per Google, the new app is designed around a user’s relationships with people and businesses. Its interface now highlights people and businesses over the transactions, which means the app will now group your activity around your friends and businesses. Available on both Android and iOS, the service is used by more than 150 million people in 30 countries.
New Google Pay is Not Just a Payments App
The new Google Pay app is more than just a mobile payment solution. The app’s focus has now shifted from transactions to building financial relationships with family, friends, and businesses. Google states that it has turned the app into a one-stop money-management app. Apart from letting you pay money to your friends or businesses, the redesigned Google Pay helps you split bills, manage expenses, or find the latest offers from popular brands. There’s a lot more you can do.
The new changes that come to the Google Pay app also include a group payment feature. Starting November 18, you can also use the app to pay bills at restaurants, gas stations, and parking services in select cities. Apart from this, the app can now scan receipts that you can later search for by typing the name of the type of receipt. Further, the new update brings more security and privacy to the users’ data and transactions. Google says that it will never sell private information to third parties or share the data with other Google services for advertising.
In addition to these features, Google is also planning to create a digital bank account called Plex Account. The company says that it’ll become available in 2021, initially limited to eleven banks and credit unions in the US.
