Google offers so many free products to its users, and cloud storage is one of them. The search engine gives all users 15GB of cloud storage space that includes Gmail, Drive, Photos, and more. Moreover, the company provides extra storage to users depending upon the various subscription plans that it offers. Google gives these storage up-gradation options through its Google One service. Now, the tech giant is rolling out its own VPN for the Google One subscribers who have opted for the 2TB or higher plans. Users subscribed to these higher plans can enable the Google One VPN at no extra cost.
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) protects data on an unsecured network by providing a secure tunnel for the data. And, Google is now introducing its own virtual private network to add more security for its users. “To give you peace of mind that your data is safe, we’re announcing the new VPN by Google One on our 2 TB and higher plans to provide an extra layer of online protection for your Android phone,” writes Google in its blog post.
How to Get Google One VPN
Google is currently bringing out its VPN in the US for Android users with Google One 2TB storage plan and higher. The company said it will make the VPN available on iOS, Windows, and Mac as well, but later. According to Google, the VPN will be coming to Android users in the US in the coming weeks through the Google One app. For iOS, Windows, and Mac users – and users in other countries – the company will roll out its VPN service in the coming months.
Those users who have a Google One 2TB storage or higher plan will be eligible for this online protection tool. They can enable the VPN from the Google One Android app on their smartphones with just a tap. According to Google, the VPN will provide an extra layer of online protection to users on public Wi-Fi networks. This will protect the user’s data from hackers, especially when the user is connected to a public Wi-Fi or unsecured network.
