Hollywood actor Tom Cruise has now set his eyes upon the skies to shoot his new action movie in space. He is hoping to enter Hollywood record books by being the first actor to shoot the movie in space. He wants to shoot a movie outside the earth and has had talks with NASA and SpaceX already. The movie will be shot at the International Space Station (ISS) about 250 miles above the earth. This movie will be the first of its kind to be actually shot outside the Earth’s atmosphere.

Tom Cruise looks hopefully towards SpaceX for providing a rocket to shoot a movie outside the Earth. For now, this is a collaboration between Tom Cruise, SpaceX, and NASA to make the first feature film outside the Earth’s atmosphere.

Details of the Movie

There are no actual details of the film but the entertainment website Deadline, which first reported the story, said that the movie is set to be an action-adventure. It added further that the movie will not be the part of Cruise’s franchise “Mission: Impossible.” Though it is not yet clear whether Tom Cruise will actually venture space or a particular footage will be filmed in space and ISS instead.

NASA has refused to provide further details for now but looks forward to possibly give it a try. “We will say more about the project at the appropriate time. Anything else would be premature.” The talks are still going on and no party has yet officially accepted to film the movie. OnePlus Killed its Flagship Killer with Bare Hands

OnePlus Rolls Out OxygenOS 10.5.9 for OnePlus Nord and Open Beta 3 OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro

Don’t Get the Vanilla OnePlus

OnePlus 8 series was launched almost a month back, and we took our time to analyze it. OnePlus has been making ‘Flagship Killers’ for a while now. This meant providing the fastest chipset and performance of the time, in a budget that doesn’t burn your wallet. But over time, their prices have increased quite substantially, and these devices are in the flagship territory now, both in terms of price hike and features. Continue reading to see if they are worth your attention.

Spoiler alert: Don’t get the OnePlus 8 unless you absolutely have a reason to. This article explains exactly why, along with some better alternatives offering a better bang for your buck and worth the consideration.

Unjustified Feature Differences

OnePlus started launching 2 tiers of smartphones from 2019 when it first introduced the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro. Back then, the 2 phones had very similar basics, but the Pro had some features that could be considered as a “luxury”, owing to its “Pro” moniker. They also had very different prices, and each of the options offered great value for money. With the 8 and 8 Pro, OnePlus took away too many features from the budget sibling while pricing it steeply, from 42,000 INR. It is a great phone, and let us not make you think it’s not. But for the price you pay, it’s definitely not giving the right value which the brand represented before.

The OnePlus 8 has an inferior display(1080p & 90Hz versus 1440p & 120Hz in 8 Pro), no wireless charging, the omission of an official IP rating, an older standard of RAM (DDR4x v/s DDR5 in the 8 Pro), no telephoto camera (seen even in the 7T which it succeeds) and a smaller battery. It even omits the much better quality Ultra-wide camera and the Sony IMX689 primary sensor from the 8 Pro and uses the same primary and Ultra-wide sensors used last year. This can be quite a bummer for a lot of people, especially when feature differences were far less pronounced in the 7T series launched half a year back.

OnePlus 8 Pro

What To Get Then?

We suggest skipping the OnePlus 8 and waiting for the 8T if possible. The T series contains minor improvements but usually offers better value for the price. If you can somehow stretch your budget, get the OnePlus 8 Pro for 55,000 INR which is one of the best phones available in India right now, and it’s highly recommended to get one. It offers the best value at that price segment and comes with all the bells and whistles of a flagship, at much lesser of a cost. If you want a cheaper option, the OnePlus 7T might suit you. It starts in around 35000 INR currently and doesn’t lose out much. It only has half a generation older chipset, and no 5G, which shouldn’t be a big deal for the masses.

The OnePlus 8 is a good device by its own. It is a flagship with inferior specs, not a Flagship Killer.

Elon Musk Names Newborn Son X Æ A-12, Here’s Pronunciation and Legal Trouble the Couple May Face

Elon Musk's Newborn Son Name May Face Trouble

Recently, on May 4th, 2020, singer Claire “Grimes” Boucher, wife of Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, gave birth to a baby boy. Soon after, Elon took to Twitter to confirm the news after his fans’ questions. He confirmed that the baby was born and both the mom and the baby were good. In a series of tweets, Musk replied on Twitter to his fans’ questions about the baby. When one fan asked for the name of the baby, Elon Musk replied with a strange name of his son – X Æ A-12 Musk!

He did not bother to explain how to pronounce it. Even typing that “Æ” into your keyboard is something that nobody knows. But copy-paste works.

He also shared a photo of the baby with a filter that added tattoos on the baby’s face. He joked, saying “Never too young for some ink haha.”

This is the couple’s first child but Musk has five other children from his previous marriage also. Two twins Griffin and Xavier and a triplet of Damian, Saxon and Kai.

After the announcement of the baby’s weird name, many people are wondering how to even pronounce that. On May 7, Musk appeared with a podcast host on The Joe Rogan Experience. When asked how to pronounce the baby’s name, Elon Musk said the name of his son is pronounced as “X Ash A 12.”

Legal Challenges for Musk in Naming Son X Æ A-12

This name may be unique but it seems to be in trouble. It is being said that the name may be against California regulations. The Washington Post reported that Musk may need to rethink the baby’s name. California allows only the 26 English letters of the alphabet to use on birth certificates. Only a few special characters are allowed which include apostrophes, hyphens, and periods. X Æ A-12 contains the symbol Æ which is not allowed as per California regulations. However it is unclear that whether the couple needs to change the name of the baby or they have already used a different name on the legal birth certificate.

It also remains unclear where the family will live.  Musk claimed on Twitter that he would “own no house.”

Fitbit to study Atrial Fibrillation detection on a large scale

Fitbit heart rate detection

Fitbit Inc. launched a new, large-scale study to test its devices’ capabilities of detecting Atrial Fibrillation, or irregular heart rhythms. This phenomenon is the most common form of heart rhythm irregularity found in the human heart. It can even increase the risk of having a stroke, usually prevalent in the population above the age of 65.

Following Apple’s Path to Success

Apple has had tremendous success with its Apple Watch Series 5 with its vital stats detection capabilities. It has also been praised for countless incidents of having detected abnormal heart rates and informing the wearer of seeking medical help in time. Fitbit wants to leave no scope of being left behind after having led the market in wearable fitness devices. It specializes in wearable health-based devices and would not want Apple to take over its long grown market share. “They have the unique potential to accelerate AFib detection because their 24/7 heart rate tracking is powered by long battery life. The battery life gives users the ability to wear the devices for several days”, said Fitbit.

Apple Watch Atrial Fibrillation

Fitbit devices in the past, such as the Ionic and Versa already had capable hardware. These could detect such anomalies but hadn’t matured enough to notify users of the same. Thus, Fitbit has been working on this technology for quite some time now and wants to mature it to a stage that it can roll out feature updates for its current users. They hope to enroll thousands of people for this study, but only people living in the US above the age of 22 are eligible.

Right Moves can Help Fitbit Attract Customers

Alphabet Inc (Parent company to Google) acquired Fitbit in November 2019. Fitbit announced back then, its intentions to detect irregular heart-rates to match Apple’s wearable watch series. Moreover, their plans to partner with Bristol-Myers Squibb-Pfizer Alliance on how to communicate with wearers about such medical implications were also announced. This move towards bio-technical advancement could help Fitbit expand its users to a larger population. Elders, senior citizens, or patients having cardiac health implications would also be attracted to this life-saving innovation.

Boston Dynamics’ Spot, a Four-legged Robot is Patrolling Singapore Parks to Encourage People Maintain Social Distancing

Since the first announcement of the successful use of Spot, Boston Dynamics’ quadrupedal robot, in a hospital, the robot dog is now seen patrolling the parks of Singapore. In the fight against COVID19, the robot politely asks joggers and cyclists to stay apart and maintain social distancing.

The remote-controlled, four-legged robot built by Boston Dynamics was first deployed in a central park on Friday as part of a two-week trial. Patrolling the parks, the yellow and black robo-dog broadcasted, “Let’s keep Singapore healthy. For your own safety and for those around you, please stand at least one meter apart. Thank you!“, in a softly-spoken female voice. The recorded message encouraged people to maintain social distancing. Not just speakers, the Boston Dynamics’ Spot carries cameras on board too. These cameras are used to monitor gatherings. However, the government insists that they won’t be using face tracking or collected personal data. Spot is controlled remotely by the Singapore authorities to avoid proximity but there will be atleast one officer accompanying the robot.

SPOT is fitted with safety sensors to detect objects and people in its path.“, said the officials in a release. “It has in-built algorithms to detect an object or person within 1 meter of its proximity to avoid collisionSPOT will be accompanied by at least one NParks officer during the trial period.”, added the report further.

To counter the global pandemic, more fascinating efforts are coming from the tech world. Robotics and automation is gaining more interest.

How Long Will Singapore Have SPOT Support Onboard?

Spot is currently under trial and patrolling Singapore parks during off-peak hours. Authorities say, if the trial proves successful, they will consider deploying Spot during morning and evening peak hours. “Should the trial prove successful, NParks will consider deploying SPOT at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park during the morning and evening peak hours,” said the officials in the release. Spot is also being trialled at a community isolation facility to deliver essential items, such as medicines to patients. The Smart Nation and Digital Government Group (SNDGG) of Singapore is also planning the use of Spot to support other COVID-19 related operations.

On a larger note, Spot is currently being looked as a great tool for automation and harnessing technology for public use in these times of the pandemic. From awareness to the delivery of essential items such as medicines, Singapore authorities are planning to make use of the robot in every possible way to lower the risk of exposure to the virus.

Can we Play 120fps Xbox Series X Games on TV

XBOX SERIES X

At the very first Xbox 20/20 event, there were quite a lot of revelations made about the Dirt 5 game.
It is the follow up of the 2017’s Dirt 4, which is lauded by both the critics and the viewers and is a great success. This rally racing game is trying to expand its audience’s experience by providing a more compatible and graphically appealing game. As the makers want the game to never go off trend. This game supports about 120 frames per second on the new Xbox Series X.
The amazing news is if you get this for Xbox ONE, you’ll get the Xbox Series X without any additional cost.

What is so New about this Game?

The Xbox team, during the event, told that Dirt 5 supports the next-generation consoles. These consoles are famous for their high framerate feature. So, you can enjoy this game by driving at 4K and 120 frames per second. This game, from the start, has been praised for its visuals, for being so realistic and now this new feature adds a hint of glitter to its upcoming success. As the game already had a great visual offering so the makers didn’t stress much on this part. On the other hand, they focused on helping the game to run fast by putting in extra horsepower.

Can TVs Handle these Kinds of Games?

The Xbox Series X can run the Dirt 5 game at up to 120 fps, but that depends on the medium you are using, i.e. you need to have the right display. This game has a high graphical offering that needs a device with a high refresh rate, which we most often find in PCs. As usual, the consoles topped out at 60fps it hasn’t mattered that most TVs top out at 60Hz. But this can turn out to be a problem for the next-generation consoles.

For Dirt 5 to run at 120fps on a TV, it needs to be running at 120Hz or faster. This means your TV needs to be capable enough to update its frame at the rate of 120fps. Let me tell you now TVs with this feature are available in the market.

Dirt 5 game
Image: YouTube

What kind of TV Should I Buy?

First of all, if you want to get the best out of the Dirt 5 game you need a TV with HDMI 2.1. This is what decides the audio, visual standards, and adaptability of the device while connecting to other devices. Microsoft itself has confirmed that the HDMI to be 2.1 for the Xbox Series X to function smoothly. The visual treat of this game is accessible only if the frame runs at high resolution out of the new generation console which is possible only with an HDMI 2.1. Let’s discuss the power of HDMI 2.1 firstly it supports 12-bit HDR 4K video at a speed of 120Hz.
TV like 2020 Samsung Q800t and LG OLED are some of the old models that have HDMI 2.1 and if you don’t have then you probably need to upgrade.

But, even the TVs with HDMI 2.0 can support the Xbox Series X but then the experience will differ, as you’ll have to choose framerate over resolution.

So, in the end, the decision is yours whether you want to upgrade your TV or you’re fine playing it on your desktop.
