OnePlus launched the latest OnePlus Nord N100 and Nord N10 5G just a few days ago. Nord N100 is advertised as a phone with a 60Hz refresh rate while N10 5G sports a 90Hz refresh rate. However, turns out the Nord N100 sports a 90Hz refresh rate display as well.
Apparently, users in the UK where Nord N100 is available, have reported that their unit has 90Hz settings as well. Though it depends on applications used, settings, and processing limitations, getting a 90Hz refresh rate is a major plus for Nord N100 users.
The Chinese smartphone maker advertised Nord N100 with a 60Hz display. However, it is able to scale all the way to 90Hz as the phone is able to pull it off. Perhaps it is because of the underlying specifications that don’t allow the system to consistently exercise a high refresh rate. This was something OnePlus admitted the same in a recent statement it made available online.
According to a theory coined by Android Authority, OnePlus could either brand and promote Nord N100 with a “Fluid Display”. This would affect the company’s branding when users complain about it. Or promote the phone as with a standard 60Hz display where the latter holds much credibility.
OnePlus Nord N100 sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 40 SoC on-board along with 4GB RAM, an Adreno 610 GPU. The display is a 6.52-inch HD+ IPS LCD with 720×1600 pixels resolution. Although otherwise advertised, the OnePlus Nord N100 has settings to switch between 60Hz and 90Hz although it is applicable to some apps and not all.
Nord N100 offers a 13+2+2MP triple camera setup at the back along with an 8MP front camera. It has a huge 5,000 mAh battery paired alongside 18W fast charging tech. It runs on Android 10-based OxygenOS 10.5 out-of-the-box. The phone is almost a rebranded Oppo A53 which is from OnePlus’ sister company Oppo.
