OnePlus announced the arrival of OxygenOS 11 for its OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro devices. Based on Android 11, the new operating system comes with a host of fresh updates and improvements over its previous iteration.
Like previous releases, this OS update will be released in the form of incremental updates. The update comes as a step forward for both OnePlus and OxygenOS. It aims to improve the efficiency and user experience on OnePlus devices.

The new OxygenOS update comes with a fresh look UI designed for a convenient experience and optimized use. The new weather UI brings dynamic graphics for day-night cycles. The Game Space system received a major upgrade. Users now have newly added gaming tools along with three notification settings: text-only, heads up and block.
The new quick reply feature allows you to respond to messages on Instagram and WhatsApp without leaving your game. To do so, swipe down from either of the upper corners. This will open a small window for your messages. The update will also feature an Always-On ambient display setting along with new clock styles and design.
Other updates involved a new shortcut key for enabling Dark Mode. Five new themes were added to Zen Mode, which you can share with your friends using the Group feature. Finally, minor updates to the Gallery and desktop widgets were performed.
Announcing the release of OxygenOS 11, Product Lead Gary C. wrote, “We have heard your voice – be it positive or negative – and squashed bugs and improved overall stability, providing users with a fast and smooth experience, in fresh yet familiar OxygenOS.”
While the current update is only for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, other models including OnePlus 7T Pro, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7Pro, OnePlus 7, OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 6 and OnePlus Nord are slated to receive the update in near future. Moreover, the upcoming OnePlus 8T will come with OxygenOS 11 straight out of the box.
